Festival Choir To Perform Nov. 13 Concert

The 91Ώμ²₯ 91Ώμ²₯ Festival Choir will perform β€œChronicles of Blue and Gray” at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 13, at First Presbyterian Church of Morristown. The performance features the choir, soloists and a duet, all backed by a chamber orchestra. Admission is free and tickets are not required.
 
β€œChronicles of Blue and Gray” blends spirituals, folk songs and anthems of the American Civil War with original music drawn from speeches by Abraham Lincoln and letters written by soldiers fighting on both sides. The music includes a conversation between General Ulysses S. Grant and General Robert E. Lee. Also profiled in the work families divided by the war, with members serving in both armies. The piece was written by John Purifoy, a Knoxville composer.  
 
Alan Eleazer, former choral director at Maryville College, will conduct the choir. 
 
The 91Ώμ²₯ 91Ώμ²₯ Festival Choir is comprised of community members from throughout the 91Ώμ²₯ 91Ώμ²₯ service area who enjoy choral music.
